Detroit College Day 2020  !!!

Detroit College Day (DCD) is hosted by MSU CollegeAdvising Corps (MSUCAC), Michigan College Advising Corps (MCAC), AdviseMI College Advising Program, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and Detroit College Access Network (DCAN). The purpose of DCD is to inform and excite high school seniors and juniors about the college planning process and to inspire a college-going atmosphere in the city of Detroit. The event will include a college, career, and summer program fair and college knowledge workshops and panel discussions. Fifteen high schools and over 700 students will attend the event.

DCD originated and has been an event of the MSU CollegeAdvising Corps since 2013. MSU CollegeAdvising Corps' purpose is to increase the college participation and completion rate in Michigan, particularly among underserved students, first generation college students, and low-income students. This year MSUCAC is increasing the number of students reached through Detroit College Day by collaborating with AdviseMI College Advisers, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, and DCAN.

Description

We are happy to announce the return of Black College Awareness Day, now known as HBCU Awareness Day. On Saturday, September 28, 2019, (9:00: a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, will host this event. It is expected that over 1000 parents and students from across the state and region will attend. With the relevancy of our institutions in question and many facing accreditation challenges, we cannot sit idly by! Our HBCU’s are historical treasures that must be preserved. While HBCU’s all have shared history and goals, each is unique in campus culture/vibe and academic opportunities.

From past programs, we can assure you that this will be one of the BEST recruitment opportunities you will experience. Please consider sending a representative from your college/university or identifying alumni who may participate. There is no fee for space! On this day we plan to have College Admission Representatives, Scholarship and Financial Aid Information, Middle and High School Student Workshops, Parent Workshops, Lunch and door prizes and a Prep Rally that will include a Drumline and much more...
