A Parents' Guide to Paying for College

March 6, 2018

Since the 1990s, the costs of both private and public college tuition have easily outpaced inflation. This means helping to pay for your children's higher education may no longer be as straightforward as opening a 529 account, snagging as many scholarships as possible and filling out FAFSA forms.

Crack the College Code.

Those who do not know the code will (1) over pay for college, (2) will NOT understand the financial "rules" about paying for college and (3) will most likely be misled by word-of-mouth information regarding the FAFSA. Learning the "game" of college preparation will alert you to the vehicles of TAX FREE savings for college, landing you with the right college for your chosen major, tools to get the most scholarships, avoid multiple loans and not have to touch your equity in your home nor retirement savings.

The Success Plan

Many families are learning that putting off college preparation is like putting off going to the doctor when ill or avoiding that annoying car repair. Postponing and procrastinating will prove to be very pricey. Those who start at least by elementary school benefit the most in academic and financial planning for college. Put your child on the path of Success
